Radius Service
The Radius service, for people who have profound and multiple disabilities, is based near to the town centre, allowing easy access to community based facilities. The people who use Radius tend to communicate non-verbally, and the majority are also wheelchair users. Without skilled staff support these individuals would be unable to participate in activities, or take an active role in their communities.
Most of the Radius service users receive input from our physiotherapist, who also provides staff training in lifting and handling, wheelchair handling, and regular training around individuals with regard to posture, standing and walking programmes.
A typical day for a person using this service may involve a visit to a café, or participation in trampolining, aerobics, or cycling groups. Some specialised services are also provided at our fully equipped ‘Snoezelen’ facility, which includes a ball pool, ‘sensory room’ and Jacuzzi.
